Virginia QB commits for baseball

One of the top quarterbacks in Virginia will be heading to NC State next year, but he won't be throwing touchdown passes.
"Ryan has committed to NC State for baseball," said Chesapeake (Va.) Western Branch head coach Lew Johnston of Ryan Pond. "I highly, highly doubt he'll be playing football there. Maybe way down the road if baseball doesn't work out, but he loves baseball and that's where his future is."
Pond, a 6-foot-2, 225-pounder, throws a 90 MPH fastball and is a hard-hitting slugger as well. On the football field, he has a terrific arm although footspeed was in question.
