Virginia LB lands first D-I offer
Glen Allen (Va.) Deep Run linebacker Derek Jackson picked up his first Division I offer last week. The 6-foot-3, 211-pounder nabbed the scholarship from the Big Ten.
"I got an offer from Purdue on Saturday," he said. "I'm excited that I got the offer. I know my parents and I are going to look at the campus the first weekend in July. Right now I'm just trying to get familiar with Purdue before I make a decision."

Earlier, Jackson was believed to be favoring the Boilermakers and went on to discuss what he likes about Purdue.
"I'm favoring them more just because they offered," he said. "They are a good school anyway and have high academics.
"I have been texting coach Legg. I call him every other week and he's a cool guy. He really impressed coming to my school and telling me all about their program."
The real question is, will Jackson possibly commit in July?
"I was going to wait until later to make a decision, but now I'm thinking it'll either be before the football season or after I take all my official visits," he said. "I'm starting to get interest from other schools like UVA. Coach Groh has been texting me.
"I'm also looking at going to Northwestern for camp this week and Duke's camp this weekend."
