Virginia LB claims no favorites

Plenty of schools are taking a look at Glen Allen (Va.) Deep Run linebacker Derek Jackson. The 6-foot-3, 215-pounder claims there was a favorite at one time, but now he is open to all schools.
"My recruiting is wide open," he stated. "I think Boston College was my favorite early on until the coaches left.

"I really liked the staff there and would be interested in checking out North Carolina State. I like Keith Willis. I met him up at Boston College and he's a funny guy that isn't just focused on getting you to the school. He teaches you."
Though Jackson was impressed with Tom O'Brien's staff, he grew up a fan of a different ACC program.
"I grew up liking Florida State," he said. "It may be a factor if they came in, I'd have to look at it. My dad always liked them and I've watched them too."
Meanwhile, what about the local schools for the junior prospect?
"I've been getting a few letters from Virginia and Virginia Tech along with Connecticut and East Carolina," he said. "I'm just looking for a good education, solid coaching staff and a team with a good program."
Jackson accounted for over 300 yards of offense and three touchdowns last season to go along with 36 tackles, eight for loss and three interceptions on defense.
