Virginia kicker lands D-I offer

Offer No. 1 came in last week for Newport News (Va.) Menchville kicker Dillon Christopher. On top of that, the 6-foot-1, 175-pounder had a strong performance at his first camp of the summer.
"I got the offer from Navy on Thursday," he said. "I have interest in Navy and it's leverage too. It helps me to get more offers hopefully.

"I know with Navy I would have an automatic job right out of college and it's close to home too."
Meanwhile, Christopher headed to Virginia Tech for camp on Sunday.
"I missed one field goal, I was 14-of-15," he said. "There were 12 kickers there and the coaches told me I kicked the shit out of the ball.
"There were so many people there, they couldn't say much. Coach told me I did a good job and to keep kicking. They plan to come to one of my games next year, but first they want to see how the kickers do in August practice before doing something."
Christopher plans to head to more camps soon, Virginia next weekend, Old Dominion, William & Mary, James Madison and Navy.
In addition, Christopher has put himself in position to possibly get selected for the Semper Fi All-Star Game.
"I tried out and hit a 50-yarder, 55-yarder and 60-yarder, back-to-back-to-back in front of the CEO," he said. "I'd love to play in that game. It'd be great publicity and it's in San Diego, but they have camps until August 5th, so I'll likely hear back after that."
