Virginia DE visits three

Ashburn (Va.) Stone Bridge defensive end Andrew Holoman recently took in junior days at NC State, North Carolina and Duke. Did any of the three visits stand out?
"I liked the North Carolina State visit," he said. "They have a good coaching staff and I got to see their practice and a scrimmage and they looked pretty good. I didn't get to talk to all the coaches, but a couple of them and it was good talking to them. They're facilities were really nice and surprised me."

How was the North Carolina visit?
"I was a little more impressed with their coaching staff," Holoman said. "Their facilities were just as nice as North Carolina State's. They're practice looked a little more coordinated. I also got to talk to coach John Bunting and he was pretty impressed with my tape. Coach Bunting knows what he is doing and from what I saw their team is going to be pretty good this year."
Finally, how did his visit to Duke go?
"I didn't get to see Duke practice, but I saw the facilities and talked to their coaches," he said. "They are real good academically and they have pretty much anything I would want to study, but I haven't seen their football team yet so that's still questionable."
How would Holoman compare the visits and did any of them standout?
"Duke and North Carolina State have the academic curriculum I want," he said. "The North Carolina visit stood out though because they have a very big campus and they have a good ROTC program for the Air Force."
Besides taking visits, Holoman has been getting his share of mail from schools including Georgia Tech, Stanford, Marshall, Penn State and Virginia.
Has any mail peaked Holoman's interest?
"Georgia Tech really peaked my interest," he said. "I just recently got mail from them, they interest me especially because of their engineering program as well as their location and football are good too."
During the offseason, Holoman is running track and lifting weights.
"It's going pretty well, the track season just started three weeks ago and we have our first meet next week."
This spring the 6-foot-3, 202-pound prospect plans on attending the Nike Camp at Penn State in April and the Adidas Combine at North Carolina State in May.
As for this summer, Holoman plans to attend camps at Virginia and Maryland.
Last season, the defensive end posted 27 tackles, five sacks and one interception as he was named second team all-district.
