Virginia DE looking to have a big year

It's a big season approaching for defensive end Chris Johnson out of Virginia Beach (Va.) Tallwood. The 6-foot-4, 210-pounder believes numerous schools may offer if he performs well early this year.
"I haven't really been getting a lot of contact from the schools since the texting ban, but I am getting mail," he stated. "I think a whole bunch of colleges will offer in the month of October if I do well.

"Schools including Maryland, Marshall, Virginia Tech, Tennessee want film of the first few games, so I've got to perform."
Previously Johnson stated Maryland as a leader. Is that still the case?
"I do think I'd favor Maryland," he said. "I like the weight program and everything about that school. There's not one negative about it.
"In fact, I'm looking at going to the Boston College game there for a visit. I'm also looking at games at Duke and possibly Marshall or West Virginia."
On Friday, the two-star prospect starts the season against Green Run.
"The team is looking pretty good particularly on defense," he said. "One of our players, A.J. Boggs is back at running back and he's running all over things. He may be a guy to watch this season. Last week in scrimmage he ran for 150-yards.
"I'm playing better too, especially in run support. My pass rushing game is better as well."
