Virginia DB earns all-star game invite

A major honor came recently for one 6-foot-2, 183-pounder defensive back. The Virginia Beach (Va.) First Colonial star will be one of a select few to participate in an all-star game in January.
"I got invited to the Under Armor All-American game," safety Nick Dew said. "When they first called me up, I thought I was being punked or something like that. Then I called back and they didn't answer. He called me and told me he was organizing the Under Armor All-American game. I thought he was playing with me. He told me they were going to fly me out with an all expense paid trip. I told them to sign me up."

Dew was clearly surprised by the news and feels honored by the opportunity.
"It means a lot to me, it means I've got to step up my work ethic on the field because I want to be the best out of all those players," he said. "You dream about playing football, but I never dreamed I'd be able to play in the Under Armor All-American game."
On the recruiting front, Dew is sitting on three offers still from Kentucky, Virginia Tech and East Carolina.
"I'm still at three right now," he said. "I'm filling out questionnaires and getting stuff from Syracuse, Purdue, Maryland and Alabama."
Previously Dew was high on the Hokies. Is that still the case?
"Virginia Tech is a great school, but I'm open to everyone. I want to say Virginia Tech is my favorite, but it's not true, whatever happens happens," he said. "I do plan to visit Kentucky on the 11th and then Virginia Tech for their spring game on the 25th. At the end of this month I'm going to East Carolina."
Visits are coming for Dew. What does he want to see on these trips?
"I want to see how big the campuses are, how far you have to walk around," he said. "I want a taste of the cafeteria and to meet the coaches and see the locker rooms."
Currently Dew is running track where he's participated in a couple invitationals.
