Virginia Beach DE stays in-state

Virginia Beach (Va.) Tallwood defensive end Chris Johnson was scheduled to take an official two weeks ago to Northern Illinois. Due to the departure of their head coach, the visit was cancelled and the 6-foot-4, 210-pounder quickly turned around and made a decision.
"They did cancel that visit and I committed to William & Mary last week," he said. "They have a good program and are a good academic school to put it in a nutshell.

"They are known for their academics and have a really good business school. The facilities there for football are brand new. They are so impressive that the New York Jets called them about their facilities so they can make one like it."
There was more to the two-star prospects decision than that though.
"The coaches there seemed like really honest guys, whole hearted," he said. "They didn't say anything bad about other schools. They actually didn't talk about other schools. They really motivated me as a football player and that sealed the deal."
Johnson expects to redshirt next season for the Tribe.
He selected William & Mary over offers from Army, Navy, Duke, Northern Illinois, Eastern Michigan and others.
