GW-Danville's
Kenny
Lewis Jr., a 5-foot-9, 185-pound all-purpose back, says Virginia Tech
still holds a sizeable lead over the other schools in the mix for his services.
"Virginia Tech is definitely my favorite," he said. "I'm
not saying the others don't have a chance, but it's not very close right now."
Lewis, whose father played for the Hokies, does not have a
scholarship offer yet from Virginia Tech. But he feels that could come sometime
early in the season.
"A lot of schools are telling me they're going to come and
see me play," he said. "I feel like I've have a good chance to show what I can
do. I'm healthy and a lot better overall player this year."
Lewis (4.4 forty, 270 bench, 430 squat) was limited to 410
yards and five touchdowns as a junior due to injuries. Still, he managed to make
the Rivals.com Virginia Top 50
team.
Maryland, Tennessee and East Carolina have made official
offers. Clemson is also turning up the heat in recent weeks.
