Viramontes talks Big 10 offer

Victor Viramontes had not talked with the Wisconsin coaching staff but then defensive coordinator Dave Aranda stopped by his school and that all changed quickly.
The Badgers decided to offer the three-star prospect from Norco, Calif., recently and whether he plays quarterback or linebacker for the Big 10 power, Viramontes said he's thrilled to get on the board with such a major program.

"I was just at lunch and I had no communication with them but my coach at Norco called me in after lunch and I talked to the coach from Wisconsin," Viramontes said. "He was telling me what they wanted me to do and he said they wanted to offer me a full-ride scholarship to Wisconsin.
"The offensive coordinator is fighting for me to play some quarterback and coach Aranda said he wants me to play a little bit of linebacker so they're going to offer me as an athlete and then figure out where they put me from there."
The 6-foot-1, 205-pound prospect said he does not mind switching to defense - even though he looked great at quarterback this past weekend at the B2G 7v7 Los Angeles at Orange Coast College.
More than anything, Viramontes just wants to see the field.
"I'm just trying to get on the field and do what's best for the team, help them out to get a couple more wins," he said.
So far, Viramontes has landed offers from Wisconsin, Nevada, San Diego State, San Jose State, UNLV, Washington State and Montana State. There are no frontrunners yet.
"Right now I'm just blessed with all my offers," Viramontes said. "I don't have any favorites right now."
This summer the Norco standout hopes to visit Wisconsin and Oregon. He has already taken trips to Cal and Nevada. Fresno State and Colorado State could be the closest to offering.
