Vinson likely to sign late

There is no doubt Huntington Beach (CA) Edison two way standout Dominque Vinson is one of the best football players in the state. The talented athlete had a big senior season earning 1st team all-state honors but it also looks like if Vinson signs anywhere, it will be well after the February 7 Signing Day.
Vinson, 5-10, 160 pounds is a very talented player who could play receiver, corner or safety in college. He caught 78 passes for 1,126 yards and 12 touchdowns and was the only receiver selected to the CalHiSports 1st team all-state team.

Vinson added seven picks on defense and returned three of them for touchdowns. He clocked a 4.51-40 at the SoCal NIKE Camp and has all the physical tools that scouts look for in a future college player.
The one area Vinson is a little short on right now is in the classroom. As a result, the athlete will have to wait a little longer before selecting a college.
"He has some classes that he needs to clean up a little," Charger coach Dave White said. "He's working hard now and is on the right track but it will probably be closer to April or May before he's qualified.
"At that time, I'll bet he'll have at least six or seven colleges offering him. His other option is to attend a JC for a year but I think he might want to sign somewhere this year. Right now, it's up to him but like I said, he's doing what he needs to do and I think he'll get there."
