NEW ORLEANS, La. -- One of the standouts from the newly-created Fast Arkansas 7v7 team during Saturday’s Pylon 7-on-7 regional tournament was Arkadelphia cornerback Victor Tademy.

The Houston-area transplant turned heads at the end of last season when he effectively locked up four-star receiver Treylon Burks with the game on the line in the Arkansas 4A State Championship in December. Last weekend, he was easy to spot with his willingness to fly around to deflect a number of passes.

Tademy recently took a visit to Arkansas State and has plans to visit Louisiana Tech and North Texas in the coming weeks. The Bulldogs could be of particular interest for Tademy, after his father, Tony Tademy, played and coached for LaTech during his football career.

IN HIS WORDS

Recapping his Arkansas State visit

“I thought it was a really nice campus; I wasn’t sure what to expect because it was my first visit,” he said about his visit to A-State. “I had met some of the staff before, but it was names to put some names with faces and see some of the facilities out there.”

On Louisiana Tech

“That’s my Dad’s alma mater, so I’ve kept an eye on them for a long time,” he said. “I’m interested in going out there and seeing what it’s all about. I’ve been on the campus a couple of times, but I think that would be really fun to see what it would be like and if I have a chance to play there.”

RIVALS REACTION

A big program that some of Tademy’s coaches were floating as having started to show interest is Stanford. While the Cardinal doesn’t factor heavily into his recruitment at the moment, he said that he is working to stay ready should that relationship pick up some momentum.

“I hope to gain some interest from them,” he said. “I’m going to have to keep my grades up - obviously that’s a very prestigious school - so I’ll keep my academics straight, which they are, and just keep showing what I have on the field.”
