Victor Curne has seen his stock rise this spring after he hit the road to make some visits and picked up some offers along the way.

Over the last few weeks Curne has visited TCU, Texas and competed in the Rivals Three Stripe Camp presented by Adidas. Following his TCU visit, the Horned Frogs quickly returned to him with an offer. Even though he didn’t pick one up from the Longhorns, he said that didn’t take away from his junior day visit.

“It was probably the best visit that I had so far,” he said. “I like the coaches, I like Coach (Derek) Warehime, I got a long with him. I like the facilities and it’s a nice campus. I see the culture changing there, so that’s why I’m really interested in them.”

Curne said that he’s feeling more interest from Georgia, but that his immediate plans for the spring include making visits to Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Texas again, in April.

The Razorbacks are of particular interest to him – Curne originally hails from Arkansas, and has a special connection to that program.

“I always wanted to be a Razorback,” he said. “I’m from Arkansas and I have been talking with their recruiting specialist, Kirby (O’Meara), He’s been saying they have to get e down there real quick to take a tour and see a spring practice.

IN HIS WORDS

More on Arkansas

“I like their offense,” he said. “I feel like the things they do with the power-run can help my game. I’m not tired of the spread offense, but I think they can help my run-blocking and they do a lot of play-action passing, so that would be a different look for me.”

More on his visit to Texas

“I saw the H-Town Takeover, so I saw what they did there and now I’m interested to see what they do here too,” he said. “They told me ‘if you like what you saw in Houston, be ready for what’s we’re going to do in Austin.’”

On Oklahoma State

“I still have to take my visit up there to Stillwater,” he said. “I got on the phone with the coach and got to know him a little bit. Things are still pretty new with them, I have to get a feel for the campus and coaches officially.”

On Texas A&M

“I’m going to keep looking at them, I have to see how they stack up,” he said. “I keep in touch with Coach (Jim) Turner – he’s one of my favorite coaches because he’s so hard-nosed. He’s a tough coach and I like that.”

RIVALS REACTION

Curne doesn’t seem likely to sit on those three offers going forward. With the Aggies and Razorbacks getting more involved, the possibility of Georgia, and whoever else may choose to enter the picture, things could heat up in a hurry for him. Once some more of those offers materialize, he’ll start thinking about his options a little harder, till then, he’s still just interested in collecting a few more.

“I stared forming a list a little while ago, but I’m waiting to see how many more schools get interested in me right now,” he said. “In the summertime after I get some more offers in, I’ll probably start getting a final list going in fall training.”
