Junior to Watch: Erick Lobos
School: Venice, Calif.

Position: Defensive End/Defensive Tackle/Offensive Tackle
Size and Speed: Lobos 6-foot-3, weighs 273 pounds and runs the 40 in a very speedy for a big man 4.8. He has terrific strength lower body strength as his 630 pound squat indicates. Lobos power cleans 225 pounds, nine times and he has a solid bench of 315 pounds. Another thing to like about Lobos is he’s a solid student with a 3.0 GPA.
Honors: Lobos was selected second-team all-city and first-team all-league as a defensive lineman as a junior.
Statistics: Lobos tallied up 117 tackles, 27 tackles for loss, ten quarterback knockdowns, eight sacks, three fumble recoveries and even picked off one pass.
Favorite Colleges: Lobos is currently getting a lot of mail from the likes of Washington, Cal, ASU, USC, Colorado, Colorado State and Fresno State to name a few. His current top six schools are Texas, Boise State, Louisville, USC, Oregon and Washington.
Skinny: “Erick is a great player who is an outstanding prospect on both sides of the ball,” Venice head coach Angelo Gasca said. “He plays hard on every down.”
Versatility is the name of Lobos game. He plays left tackle on offense and plays both defensive tackle and defensive end on defense.
Lobos us very athletic and possesses great footwork. He has a good knowledge of the game and is very physical, fast and aggressive.
Lobos can either bull rush you or out quick an opponent. He has an outstanding work ethic and he’s working very hard to better his skills.
Lobos plans to attend both the USC and UCLA football camp this summer. He is also going to attend the Nike combine at Stanford in May.
“I’m working hard to prove to the scouts that I can play,” Lobos said. “If there is any doubt, I’m going to remove it.”
