Velega Down to Two

Long Beach Poly (Calif.) defensive back Byron Velega took his fourth and likely his last official visit to Washington State this past weekend. The talented corner says it's a two team race and a decision could come by the end of the week.
The theme for Velega thus far in his recruitment has been simple, whichever school he just visited has become his new favorite. So how did he enjoy his time in Pullman?

"It was great, it might have been my best trip so far," Velega said. "I love the town there, it's like the perfect college town. It was a little cold, that was probably the only negative but I got used to it real quick and that will have no bearing on my decision. I really liked the coaching staff and especially Coach Green, the defensive backs coach.
"I mentioned before that what really interested me about Washington State was how they play their defensive backs. I was so impressed with them in the Holiday Bowl. We watched a lot film and I love their aggressive style of play. They do a ton of press coverage and take a lot of risks but that's good. They were second in the country in interceptions this past season and they play the exact style of defense I'm looking for.
"Right now, I've narrowed my choices to Washington State and UCLA. WSU will be coming over for a home visit tonight. Coach Doba, Coach Skipper and Coach Green are all coming by. I haven't set a date yet but UCLA will also be coming by this week. Coach Dorrell called the house when I was gone and said they wanted to come by sometime. Once I'm done with those two home visits, I'll sit down and figure out where the best place for me is."
