Vaughn talks Ohio State offer, Purdue offical

Over the last few months Nashville (Tenn.) Ke'Shawn Vaughn has tried to cut his list down several times. The only problem is that more big-time programs keep coming in and offering the 5-foot-10, 199-pound back, leaving him to spend more time doing his homework on his potential college destination.
After naming a final five of Purdue, Louisville, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin earlier this month, Ohio State offered on Tuesday and is now firmly in the mix.

"I just made it a top six," Vaughn said. "Ohio State called and said that they had actually already offered me, the last time we talked, but I didn't know that. They asked if I wanted to set up an official, but I wasn't going to go without an offer, now that I know I have one I'm going to try to set it up."
Vaughn has been high on the Buckeyes for a while, but knew he was behind other backs on the Buckeyes board. Now with an offer in hand he thinks things have changed.
"They told me a while back that they were waiting to see about the guys they have already offered," he said. "They were keeping a promise to someone and said they wouldn't offer anyone else but I guess he made up his mind. They never told me which running back, but I like the offer and I'm happy I got it."
Vaughn has already started to take official visits and was in West Lafayette, Ind. last week to watch Purdue take on Michigan State.
"It was very nice up there," Vaughn said of the trip. They were on fall break so I didn't get to see the full college atmosphere but they showed me the football facilities, their indoor field was nice and the players and coaches are real cool."
The Boilermakers put up quite the fight against Michigan State, and Vaughn said he was impressed.
"Purdue is a young team and the battled the whole game," he said. "They told me that they are losing three senior running backs and there will be a chance for me to be playing early if I end up picking them."
With one official down and five schools still high on his list, Vaughn said he wasn't sure how the rest of his visit schedule will shake out quite yet.
"I'm trying to set one up with Louisville and Wisconsin," Vaughn said. "As far as the others, I don't know, it depends on how the rest of our season goes."
Vaughn is averaging 197.4 yards per game and a whopping 14.1 yards per carry for 6-1 Pearl-Cohn.
