Vaughn enjoys visit to Wisconsin

North Attelboro, Mass. safety Robert Vaughn took an unofficial visit a couple weeks back to Wisconsin for three days. What did the 6-foot-0, 183-pounder with 4.5-second speed think of the Badgers?
"I went from August 18th-20th and watched practices and saw everything," he said. "I liked it a lot up there. It really impressed me and I plan on going back to see the game atmosphere later this season. What impressed me the most of the visit was the competition in practice, it was really intense. I liked the stadium a lot too and the fact that they have everything in their stadium including meeting rooms, team cafeteria, indoor facility, weight room, academic center and more. You don't have to leave the stadium the whole day except for classes. I liked that a lot. I also liked Madison itself.

"They have a lot of tradition there and so much support from the fans. Finally, the coaches are really nice. I talked to Alvarez and Palermo, who's going to be the new head coach. I also got to sit down with the defensive back coach Lee for an hour and I liked him a lot and the way he handles his players. From meeting the coaches, Palermo taking over doesn't put Wisconsin under the radar at all. He's just as good of a guy as Alvarez and I'm confident he'll get the job done."
Where did the visit put Wisconsin for Vaughn?
"The visit didn't change me to want to make my decision any earlier," he said. "I'm still waiting to see if I'll get offers from Notre Dame, Nebraska, Boston College and Syracuse. I liked the school, but it doesn't put them in front of UConn. They both are on top and I have to see UConn for a game day visit too. I'll still make my decision sometime in December."
Vaughn is looking at taking in the Michigan-Wisconsin game later this fall. No other visits are currently scheduled for the two-star prospect.
What does the No. 13 player in New England think about Syracuse, Boston College and Notre Dame?
"They all haven't offered and I think they want to come to see me play before they offer," he said. "I haven't really talked to the BC coaches in a while since I went to their one day camp. I get mail from them like crazy though. I'm mostly talking to coaches from Nebraska, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Connecticut and Syracuse. Syracuse seems more interested in me than Boston College. I'm concentrating more on teams that are talking to me.
"Coach Polian at Notre Dame has been text messaging me a lot. He told me that he's bringing me up in meetings and that they haven't forgotten about me. I know that a lot of their defensive backs have committed to other places. I really like coach Charlie Weis and I know what kind of guy he is as my friend's dad coaches for the Patriots. If Notre Dame offered, I would definitely use them for one of my official visits. I know there's a lot of media exposure and competition. They also have a really good education which is what I liked most about Wisconsin."
Vaughn kicks off his senior high school season on September 16th.
