Defensive tackle Bud Tribbey out of Richmond (Va.) Varina holds two offers. The 6-foot-0, 280-pounder has one major problem that is scaring most other teams off.
"I know most of the teams looking at him are worried about his height because he is only 6-foot," Varina coach Blanda Wolfe said. "Despite that, he is one of the strongest kids I've ever had at Varina. He benches 29 reps and is as strong as an ox. Whoever gets him will have a very productive and good player.
"He actually worked with Jonathan and Kevin Lewis from Virginia Tech. That work has helped him become so much better in using his hands and I can tell he's only going to get even better."
Currently Tribbey has offers from Syracuse and Ball State.
"I know he is interested in both offers," he said. "I also know that Temple might be close to offering too, they are very interested. I know he is planning to visit Virginia Tech and North Carolina State this summer to see about possible offers there too."
Tribbey earned all-district, region and metro honors after registering 44 tackles, 10 for loss and four sacks as a junior.
