VAs Thomas commits

Virginia Beach (Va.) Bayside athlete Marquel Thomas made a decision last week. The 6-foot-2, 165-pounder committed to Youngstown State over offers from Northern Illinois, Marshall and Eastern Michigan.
"I committed last week after my visit to Youngstown," he said. "When I went and took the official I met a lot of guys from the team. I felt like part of the team, all I needed was pads and a helmet and I could have taken the field.

"I got along really well with everybody and even got a chance to hang out with some of the coaches. The coaching staff showed me a lot of love. I also really liked the players. My host was very similar to me and we had a lot in common. I talked to a bunch of other players from Virginia too."
The two-star prospect will get a chance to compete for playing time immediately at Youngstown State.
"Coach Smith was telling me he originally wanted me as a defensive back," he said. "But then they saw my wide receiver highlights and are talking about using me on both sides of the ball. That's the best for me."
