VAs Johnson discusses Maryland pledge

Maryland picked up a commitment from Dinwiddie, Va. linebacker Bradley Johnson on Wednesday afternoon. The 6-foot-1, 206-pounder gave his pledge to the Terrapins over seven other offers including South Carolina, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, East Carolina, Duke and others.
"I committed yesterday around two or three," he said. "I called Coach Bratten. He was happy and put me on the phone with the rest of the coaches."

What made Johnson pick the Terps?
"I liked the campus and facilities and the area around Maryland," he said. "The main reason for me was when I talked to Coach Friedgen. I sat down with him both times and he talked about my future and after I finish college. He talked about my career goals and how he can help me in that process. He went into detail all the ways he can help me.
"I liked Coach Friedgen, he reminded me a bit of my high school coach."
Johnson added a final thought on his choice.
"I think it was a good decision on my part," he said. "They are looking out for my future.
"I think there is a chance possibly to play early, depending on how well I do once I get there. I think they are graduating five linebackers soon."
