Varinas Evans up to two offers

Safety Marell Evans is up to two scholarship offers after a productive year earning all-district and all-region honors. Who does the 6-foot-2, 204-pounder out of Richmond (Va.) Varina have tenders from?
"He's got offers from Temple and Ball State at this time," Varina coach Blanda Wolfe said. "He's definitely looking at both of those schools, but I think he wants to see what else comes in still too."

What makes Evans stand out at the safety spot?
"He is another kid that is very athletic," he explained. "He plays basketball and that means he doesn't get much time to put on weight and I think once he settles down in football, he'll put it on. Marell still has a great frame and real long arms. He also has a natural eye to play the safety spot, reads plays very quickly and is a hitter.
"He doesn't shy away from anybody. The first day of practice last year he told me that he wants to go at Brandon Minor (Michigan). He had a pretty good collision with him and overall is just a fierce competitor."
This summer the safety prospect plans to head to team camp with Varina at West Virginia.
Last season Evans registered 66 tackles, seven for loss and two interceptions.
