Vandy impresses Arkansas LB

Bearden, Ark., outside linebacker Ben Owens has had somewhat of a topsy turvy recruitment. At one point he appeared to have an offer from the in-state Razorbacks, but as time passed he realized he did not. He appears to be down to two schools now and may be ready to make a decision.
"I took my official visit to Vanderbilt this weekend," Owens said. "It was a good visit. I really liked Nashville and the surroundings a lot there. It is a place that I could see myself going and being happy for the next four years of my life."

The 6-foot2, 205 pound Owens runs the 40 yard dash in 4.55 seconds. He has a 4.0 GPA and has already posted a 22 on the ACT.
"I was thinking about committing, but I wanted to come home and think some things over first," Owens said. "I still really like Arkansas State a lot too though and I am just not ready to make a decision. Memphis may still end up getting a visit, but I have not decided yet."
Owens recently wrapped up his high school career and - based on his statistics - was a busy man. On offense, Owens carried the ball 170 times for 1,206 yards and 17 touchdowns. Defensively, he racked up 129 tackles, two sacks, an interception, forced one fumble and recovered another and totaled nine tackles for-loss.
