Vanderdoes plans SEC trip

Eddie Vanderdoes has been planning an official visit to LSU for some time and the Placer, Calif., four-star defensive end made big news Saturday when he announced his trip would be for the Alabama game.
It is a huge trip for Vanderdoes, a 6-foot-4, 285-pound prospect who's ranked fifth at strong-side defensive end and No. 26 in the 2013 rankings by Rivals.com.

"I was expecting to visit there the whole time but I didn't want to say it right off the bat," Vanderdoes said. "I wanted things to settle down before I announced I'd be visiting LSU but I've planned for about a month to take a visit there.
"I can't wait. I'm really excited. It's going to be one of the officials I'm more excited for because the LSU-Alabama game is going to be wild. They're the two top teams in the SEC so I can't wait to get down there for that official."
Oregon is also one of the schools Vanderdoes is seriously considering but he'll probably not take an official visit there.
That is no knock on the Ducks but he's been there so often - and plans to return - Vanderdoes said he'd prefer to take official trips to places he hasn't seen much yet.
"The Oregon one I'm not sure," Vanderdoes said. "I was up there for the spring game, I was up there for the NFTC, I'll be back for The Opening and I'll be up for an unofficial to watch a game. I talked to my family and it doesn't make much sense to take an official there if I've been up there and seen everything four or five times.
"I won't be taking that one but my interest stays the same with Oregon. It hasn't dropped or anything dramatic has happened. I just want to take official visits to places I haven't seen more than once."
Vanderdoes, rated as the second-best player in the California state rankings, has more than 40 offers.
