Van Blarcom gets offer No. 2
Place-kicker Troy Van Blarcom (6-3, 200, 4.8) from Orange (Calif.) Lutheran has received his first two offers. Many consider Van Blarcom as the nation’s number one place-kicker. There is no doubt that he has one of the strongest legs coast-to-coast.
Van Blarcom received his first offer earlier this month when the Missouri Tigers were the first school put a bid in for the services of the strong legged Van Blarcom.

The Alabama Crimson Tide has now joined the Tigers as they, too, have thrown their hat into the ring for Van Blarcom.
Van Blarcom has been working on his kicking with former UCLA All-American Chris Sailer and Sailer is very proud of his student.
“This kid is one of the best in the country,” Sailer said. “I held a workout with him this past Saturday and he averaged 4.40 hang time over eight kick-offs. The kid is amazing.”
Van Blarcom has a proven track record in games too. Out of 74 kickoffs, 74 were 60 yards or better, 31 of his kickoffs were 70 yards or better.
That is a super weapon. That means 60 of his kicks ended up making the opposition start at the 20. Van Blarcom’s average kickoff was 67 yards.
Van Blarcom was 62 out 63 on PAT’s and hit on six field goals out of nine attempts with a long of 45 yards. He was selected all-CIF, all-county and second-team all-state for his junior season performance.
The scouting report on Van Blarcom is he has thunder in his leg and good accuracy. Many consider him the best kicker in the country.
Van Blarcom has hit a 65 yard field goal in practice.
Look for Van Blarcom to add punting to his duties in 2004.
Van Blarcom is getting an abundance of mail from schools all over the nation.
Besides offers from Missouri and Alabama; USC, Notre Dame and Wisconsin have been writing him and are showing Van Blarcom a lot of love on the recruiting front.
