Vallejo star gets first offer

Vallejo, Calif., tight end/defensive end Cory Robinson has picked up his first scholarship offer, and the 6-foot-4, 214-pounder hopes it's the first sign or more good things to come.
"I got calls in May from Nevada and San Diego State," Robinson, who clocked a 4.99-second time in the 40-yard dash at the Palo Alto NIKE Camp, said.

"Nevada offered me, and I was excited, of course, about that. The coaches at Nevada had a lot of good things to say about it. I talked to coach Barry Sacks, and he seemed like a really nice guy.
Sacks is the Pack's co-defensive coordinator and he's done a great job of recruiting Northern California in his time in Reno, so it's no surprise that he's involved with Robinson. Robinson said he's also getting a lot of mail from Oregon and Washington State, too.
"I'm really excited about this whole process," Robinson said. "I really want to go on the trips and see some new places. It should be fun."
Robinson has the ability to project on either side of the ball. He had 3 ½ sacks as a junior at defensive end and he's also working hard at improving his game at both tight end and d-end.
"I want to get more sacks this year," Robinson said. "I'm basically working harder on getting stronger. I wasn't as strong last year as I am now. I'm also going to work hard on playing harder and smarter. I can do some many good things if I keep working hard at it."
Robinson is originally from Waco, Texas, so he knows what big-time football is about and if he keeps working hard he's going to get a shot at playing big-time football on the next level.
