You can't call Eureka, Calif., linebacker/running back Soma Vainuku one of Northern California's best kept secrets anymore. That's because the 6-foot-1, 251-pounder is officially on the map with major Pac 10 programs.
After already having an offer from Oregon State, Washington and Hawaii, Vainuku has recently added an offer from San Diego State and just last week he picked up another Pac 10 offer.
"My newest offer is from Arizona State," Vainuku, who rushed for more than 1,000 yards and had 60 solo tackles as a junior, said. "I don't know a ton about them at this point, but I know they're looking at me for middle linebacker."

Vainuku said he's excited about the Sun Devil offer.
"I haven't been to the campus, but I have a lot of family down there," he said. "They've told me about how great of an area it is. Plus, it's in the Pac 10. That's something to really get excited about."
Vainuku is being recruited by ASU assistant Jamie Christian.
"He's a cool guy," Vainuku said. "He's the tight end and special team's coach. He wants to get me to come down for a visit. I know I'm going to have to check it out some time soon."
San Diego State's offer was impressive.
"It's another good option to have," he said.
Vainuku is the cousin of former five-star recruit Rey Maualuga.
