Va. Tech first offer for 2015 ATH

After a terrific junior season plenty of schools have been showing interest in Greensboro (N.C.) Northern Guilford defensive back Mook Reynolds. However, Virginia Tech wasn't really one of them - until this week.
The Hokies offered Reynolds on Thursday, through his head coach, becoming the first program to extend a verbal.

"It was kind of out of the blue," Reynolds said. "I hadn't had any relationship with them, they haven't been sending me anything. When I found out it was kind of unexpected but I'm extremely happy because it's a good school."
Reynolds recently posted his junior film and apparently that's what caught the eye of the Hokies coaches.
"I know they saw my film because I posted my new highlights and the next day my coach told me they offered," Reynolds said. "He said they offered me as an athlete. I play a lot of positions for my team and think I could play multiple positions for them."
While he still doesn't know much about the ins and outs of the Virginia Tech program, he did say he's familiar with the program's recent history.
"Growing up that was my older brother's favorite school so as the little brother I kind of liked them, too," he said. "I know their defense was really good back in the day and I know the Vick's went there and the program has a winning tradition. I know they've put a lot of corners and wide receivers in the NFL and I play those positions so if I went there they could help me get to the next level."
With his first offer in the books, Reynolds said he can now take a deep breath before getting ready for a busy offseason.
"It's a big accomplishment and I feel a relief of pressure," he said. "I can relax but at the same time I can step up and accomplish more for my team and achieve more goals and get more offers so I can expand my options in the future."
Others schools in regular contact with Reynolds include Auburn, Tennessee, North Carolina and N.C. State. His last visit was to the nearby Wolfpack.
"I went there when they played UNC," he said. "That was an action-packed game with a lot of tension because they were battling for the state bragging rights. I feel like N.C. State is a really good school with a good atmosphere that could be a factor in the ACC soon if they keep getting good players and rebuilding."
