VA end announces favorite

Defensive end Chris Johnson out of Virginia Beach (Va.) Tallwood attended two camps in the past few weeks. The 6-foot-4, 210-pounder stopped in at East Carolina and Maryland. Is there a favorite for Johnson following the trips?
"I went up to Maryland last week," he said. "The only thing preventing them from offering is my 40 time. I'm doing some extra running about three or four miles a week to improve on that. I think they want me more at the 4.7 range and I'm like a 4.8, so I'm right there.

"I went to East Carolina a couple weeks ago. Their coach told me I'm at the top of their board although they are waiting on my speed to offer too."
Following the trips, Johnson claims Maryland stands out.
"If they offered I'd probably take it," he said. "I've wanted to go to that school and it's my home state. I grew up only about 15 minutes away from the campus.
"When I was up there, they have an amazing weight room and offseason training program. I like the way they motivate kids. I'm a guy that works all the time. I don't like the offseason. I continue to want to make myself a better athlete. Also, I like the coaches."
Although he's favoring Maryland, the Virginia lineman is still looking elsewhere.
"I'm going with my team for a three day camp at North Carolina from July 21st through the 23rd," he stated. "Then I'll visit Duke once the season starts on an unofficial. After that I may start to consider a decision, but if I wait and improve my speed I think a lot more offers will start coming."
