VA DE has nine offers and counting

Richmond (Va.) Hermitage defensive end Jeffrey Fitzgerald is one of the top prospects in the state of Virginia for 2005. Fitzgerald has already racked up nine scholarship offers and interest is pouring in from around the country.
“I have nine scholarship offers right now. I have offers from Virginia, Virginia Tech, Maryland, West Virginia, Connecticut, Boston College, Penn State, Nebraska, and Syracuse,” said the 6-foot-4, 255-pound end who runs the 40-yard dash in 4.8 seconds.

Does Fitzgerald have a favorite?
“I am pretty much wide open at this point. I am probably most familiar with Virginia at this point because I have been there so many times. I am not ruling anybody out though.”
Fitzgerald visited Virginia this past weekend and took in their spring game and participated in the NIKE Camp on Sunday.
“I had a great time. I got to Virginia’s spring game a little late because I was playing in a baseball game, but I enjoyed myself. Sunday at the NIKE Camp was great. I felt I performed well and I got the opportunity to go up against some of the top talent in the region.”
Last season, Fitzgerald racked up over 50 tackles, six sacks, three forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries. Fitzgerald was also a weapon on the Hermitage offense. From his tight end position, Fitzgerald hauled in 11 receptions, three of which were touchdowns.
