VA athlete lands his first offer

Recruiting is picking up for a 5-foot-10, 175-pounder out of Northern Virginia. Already one school has offered and plenty of others are checking him out.
"I'm getting recruited by a lot of schools," Sterling (Va.) Dominion tailback DeAndre Reaves said. "Rutgers, Maryland, Virginia, Virginia Tech, East Carolina, Boston College, Alabama, Georgia Tech, Ohio State, UCLA, Michigan, Illinois, Duke, North Carolina, Connecticut, Syracuse and Louisville.
"I also did get my first offer from Fordham a couple weeks back. I want to say at the end of January."
Reaves is relieved to get the first offer behind him.
"I think it's great, it's college football."
Already Reaves has taken three unofficial visits and plans to head to more schools in the near future.
"I've gone to junior days at Duke, Rutgers and Virginia," he said. "I liked them all. I like Rutgers a lot up in New Jersey.
"I am taking more visits. I will be going to Maryland, East Carolina, Georgia Tech and hopefully a few others in the future."
Reaves posted approximately 1,100-yards, 13 touchdowns and three interceptions as a junior on his way to first team all-district honors.
"I had a good year. I proved I can make people miss easily and change directions pretty quickly. I'm told my speed and vision stand out. I'm also a pretty good kick and punt returner."
With college interest rising, Reaves is looking for a few things in his future destination.
"I want a college with good academic support," he said. "I understand sports aren't promised to everyone. I at least want to get a diploma and want good academic support as well."
