UVA, VTech, PSU lead for WR

For many two-sport athletes, it's often an agonizing decision to choose between sports. Portsmouth (Va.) Churchland wide receiver and cornerback Frankie Caldeyro may eventually face that decision, and it won't be an easy one.
"If I was forced to choose between baseball and football, which is something I don't want to have to do, then I would probably choose baseball. That's really my top sport, and that's what I couldn't see myself giving up.

"A lot of coaches have told me they wouldn't care if I played both, as long as I was a factor in baseball. But they've been honest and said they wouldn't want me to play baseball if I wasn't going to get playing time."
The 6-foot-0, 175-pound Caldeyro runs the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds and has excellent hands as a receiver. He runs crisp routes and has coaches hoping he'll stick with football.
"UVA, Virginia Tech and Penn State are my three leaders," said Caldeyro. "And those three are even with each other. Virginia is probably recruiting me the hardest and I like their offense a lot. I know a lot of people at Penn State and they like it. The Virginia schools are close to home and that would be nice, to stay near people."
The speedy wideout is still waiting for his first offer.
"I don't have any offers yet, but I think I'll get some before long. I haven't gotten my transcript in yet, so I don't blame them for not offering until they see my grades. I'll qualify but I have to show the stuff to coaches before they offer."
As a receiver his junior year, Caldeyro caught 21 passes for 518 yards and a touchdown. At cornerback he made two interceptions and ran one back for a touchdown. He was named first team all-district as a receiver, honorable mention all-district as a cornerback, and honorable mention all-region as a receiver.
