UVA gets West Coast commitment

The Virginia Cavaliers landed a commitment from a sleeper quarterback from the West Coast this weekend. So who is Scott Deke?
"Scott is a strong-armed quarterback with good mobility, great character and good leadership ability," said Los Angeles (Cal.) Loyola head coach Steve Grady of his signal-caller. "He stands about 6-foot-2, weighs 200 pounds and runs around a 4.8-second 40-yard dash."

Deke, who threw for 700 yards as a starter during the last six games of his junior season, camped at UVA and impressed the coaching staff.
"He's very excited to be a UVA commitment because that's where he wanted to go," said Grady. "He came away from camp with an offer, so they were obviously impressed. He's going to have a standout senior season I'm sure."
Deke was being recruited by every school in the PAC-10, although everyone seemed to want to wait until his senior season started to offer.
"Virginia liked him and saw him in person, so that made the difference," said Grady. "He really improved quite a bit throughout the end of the season for us and has continued that improvement through the summer.
"He's a pocket passer and fits the UVA offense very well."
