UVA adds another top commitment

The Virginia Cavaliers are hot when it comes to recruiting and received their ninth commitment for 2005.
"Denzel committed to Virginia today when they came to school," said Maplewood (N.J.) Columbia assistant coach Greg Cooper of his standout defensive end, Denzel Burrell. "He loved it down there on his visit a few weekends ago and felt very comfortable. He also visited North Carolina, which was nice, but he just felt more at home at UVA."

The Cavaliers were the first team to offer Burrell in writing, an offer that came on Friday.
"Once he got that and we knew they were coming to the school today, I think it was just a matter of committing," said Cooper. "Coach Mark D'Onofrio and Al Golden were here and he told them he was coming after they spoke to our head coach. He committed to them by phone after talking things over."
Burrell, who is 6-foot-4 and currently weighs around 210 pounds, will play outside linebacker for the Cavaliers. He was also being recruited by Maryland, NC State, Penn State, Pitt and Purdue amongst others.
As a junior, Burrell was named first team all-Iron Hills Conference and was also first team all-area and first team all-Essex County. He had 75 tackles (23 for a loss), seven sacks and two fumble recoveries.
