UTEP was first to get visit

Austin (Texas) McNeil two-star tight end Alex Arndt took his first official visit two weeks ago to UTEP, and it was a visit that left a lasting impression.
"It exceeded my expectations," Arndt, who is 6-foot-4 and 222 pounds, said.

"I didn't think I would like it as much as I did. The stadium, the weight room, the locker room were nice. I also talked to the academic advisors, and I liked that situation. It was pretty nice."
Arndt said he's not sure what his next move is with the recruiting process. He said he still also hears from Air Force, the other school that has offered him, but he also hopes to hear more from other local programs in the Big 12 region.
"I've talked to Arkansas and Texas A&M," Ardnt said. "But they're not calling all the time and pressing me like UTEP and Air Force. I'd like to wait it out a little longer and see if others are interested, but I want to have the decision made by Christmas."
Arndt has eight catches for 140 yards this season. A 18-17 loss last week in the final seconds to Stony Point will keep McNeil out of the state playoffs.
"This is probably the most talented team we've ever had at McNeil," he said. "I can't believe we're not going to the playoffs. It's still kind of hard to accept."
