The Miners received their 23rd commitment on Thursday from three-star receiver Russell Carr of Chino, Calif.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound receiver made his decision a couple weeks after his official visit to El Paso.
" I did it on Thursday night," he said. "I called coach Price and told him. He said he was happy because he was the one that recruited me and everything like that.
"I love coach Price. He's cool and he made me feel comfortable about the school. I can see myself playing in the offense. The players there treated me real well, too."
Apparently the Miners made quite the impression while Carr was in town.
"I had a good time there," he said. "When I first got there I met my host (Anthony Morrow), and we were just playing video games. I went and looked at the weight room and stuff and it's just what did the trick."
However, as much fun as video games are, they weren't exactly the main factor in Carr's decision.
"My favorite thing about UTEP would definitely have to be the coaching staff, he said.
If Carr had such a good time and liked UTEP so much, then why not commit on the spot?
"I wanted to sleep on it," Carr said. "I didn't want to make a decision based on emotion. I had to talk it over with my family. They really liked the school and everything."
He slept on it and luckily for the Miners, his dreams were to someday be making plays for UTEP.
