UTEP is first for Chatman

Mesquite (Texas) Horn athlete Justin Chatman doesn't have to wait for his first scholarship offer to come after several coaches made their way to his spring practice. His head coach finally told him that the first was in the books.
The 5-foot-9, 162-pound defensive back reeled in his first offer from an in-state program and now he's looking forward to what comes next.

"UTEP offered me last Wednesday," Chatman said. "I was excited. My coach told me about it. They've got a good program and that's a good school. They would be in my top group of schools. It's more like a top eight."
Those eight include LSU, UTEP, Ohio State, Northwestern, Wisconsin, Baylor, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma. All of those schools have been by the school lately and he's been talking with several programs.
"I have talked with the coaches at Ohio State and they're trying to get me an offer," Chatman said. "It's the same thing with the coaches at Baylor. I've been talking with them too and they seem interested."
Chatman is not going to be rushing any sort of a decision though.
"I'm going to wait a while," he said. "I'll probably commit right before football starts."
