Utah RB lands offer

While everyone under the sun is recruiting four-star offensive lineman John Martinez from Salt Lake City (Utah) Cottonwood the school is home for another player who definitely has the skills. The player is running back Isi Sofele (5-8, 165, 4.5).
"Isi has started since his sophomore year and at 150-pounds, he carried the ball 253 times to lead the state in carries," Cottonwood coach Cecil Thomas said. "He never missed a snap or practice. To this day he has never missed a rep.

"Isi has got it," Thomas said. "He's going to find a way. He just needs somebody to give him a chance.
"Isi has great vision, plus he can make people miss or put his feet down and go north and south," Thomas said. "For both his sophomore and junior seasons, Isi averaged about 2,200 yards of total offense each year."
Sofele earned first-team all-state and first-team all-region as a junior after rushing for 1,636 yards and scored 18 touchdowns. He returned seven punts for 133 yards and returned two kickoffs for touchdowns.
On the recruiting front, Sofele has an offer from Air Force. He is getting recruiting attention UCLA, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Washington, BYU and Utah.
"Norm Chow was in the office the other day and watched Isi on film," Thomas said. "He liked him and wants to see him in UCLA's camp."
"Because he's 5-8, people will need to give him a chance," Thomas said. "Once some team does, they won't be sorry. He's going to do well.
"We're going to put him in the slot and get him in space to showcase how special a football player he is," Thomas said. "Because Isi is special and whoever lands him is going to look very smart in the future."
