Utah lands a good one

Earlier tonight, we spoke with Las Vegas (Nev.) Cimarron-Memorial athlete Eddie Wide who told us he had narrowed his choices to Utah and Washington and would be deciding in a few days. Well a few days became a few hours as Wide made his decision minutes ago.
"I committed to Utah," Wide said. "My dad went on the Washington trip with me but wasn't there when I visited Utah. I just really wanted him to meet the coaches and especially Coach Whittingham before I did anything.

"Utah was where I wanted to go but I wanted my dad's blessing and once he talked with the coaches, there was nothing else holding me back. Washington was a great school but my dad and I talked and he said I should go where I'm most comfortable and that was Utah."
Husky head coach Ty Willingham was set to come in for a home visit Tuesday night but that visit will no longer happen. Wide, 5-10, 170 pounds, was originally offered by the Utes as a defensive back but will now come in as a running back.
"My recruiting coach, Coach Hill, showed the offensive coaches my senior film at running back," Wide said. "After the coaches saw it, they decided they wanted me as a running back instead of a corner. I prefer running back as well but it wasn't really a deal breaker or anything. Like I said, it all came down to comfort level and for me, that was at Utah."
