Ussery adds third big offer

Dallas (Texas) St. Mark's wide receiver Terdema Ussery can catch just about everything on the football field. With his combination of big frame and soft hands, he is a quarterback's best friend. With offers already from the pass-happy programs of Louisville and Stanford, Ussery recently added a Big Ten offer as well.
"Illinois offered me," Ussery said. "It came in on Wednesday. I was in the weight room lifting and my coach came and told me. They sent me general stuff in the mail and I've gotten some individual mail. I hadn't spoken to them in person."

The big physical receiver may be a good fit in the Big Ten at Illinois and he is taking a close look at the rising program.
"I'm definitely interested," he said. "I know last year, Zook brought in a really good class and that their facilities are great. Plus it's a really good school and they played in the Rose Bowl year."
Ussery has had a busy schedule this winter and plans to stay busy through the Spring visiting campuses and deciding the best atmosphere for him.
"I went to Notre Dame last weekend," he said. "Then I go to Stanford April 11, Texas the 21st or 29th of March. Then I go to Oregon on April 26. Notre Dame was the first time I've taken an unofficial visit to a school. It was pretty cool. They have great facilities and a great tradition."
As the recruiting process progresses, the factors that will play into Ussery's decision are beginning to come into focus.
"I'll probably look at the facilities and academics but also, Notre Dame for example, the coach took us in with the individual coaches. It's interesting to see how they coach the players up."
Of the schools that are continuing to show Ussery interest, it looks as though Nebraska may be the closest to adding to his offer list.
"Nebraska sent me a lot of handwritten stuff last week and so did Oregon," he said. "I'm wide open for anything and I think it's more about the school and not so much the location. I'm not that biased against any location."
When Ussery isn't on college campuses, he is competing in track in the high jump, long jump, triple jump and 4x200 meter relay. His personal best in the high jump is just below 6'5".
