USC, UofL top two for Tennessee RB

Three-star Cleveland (Tenn.) running back Levonte Barber has been holding back on naming a leader to see what the home state Volunteers intended to do, and it appears he now has that answer.
“I don’t really know what’s happening there,” he said. “The last time I talked to them, they just asked for another highlight tape. I don’t think I’m really in their plans right now, so my top three are South Carolina, Louisville and Wake Forest.”

Barber (6-0, 195, 4.45) said he’s told coaches from each of those schools that he will make official visits in January, but he wasn’t 100 percent certain of all the dates at this point.
“Louisville and South Carolina are supposed to be coming to see me this week, so I should know a little more after that,” he said.
The Gamecocks hold the lead at this point.
“They’re my leader because I have family there, it’s close to home, and it would be great to play for coach Holtz,” he said. “I like everything about South Carolina.
“Louisville would be my second choice right now. I like their coaches and the offense they run. It’s a good offense for a running back. They have a good, solid program and will be moving up to the Big East.
“Wake Forest is still looking good, too. I like their coaches. I think that’s a program on the rise. I also like the school and the academics they have.”
As a senior, Barber rushed for 1,700 yards and 20 touchdowns. He’s rated the No. 39 running back in the nation by Rivals.com.
