USC rates well with Harvin
Virginia Beach (Va.) Landstown wide receiver Percy Harvin took his second official visit of the recruiting season this past weekend when he tripped to Southern Cal. The nation's No. 1 player, Harvin is being heavily recruited by every program in the country but narrowed his list down to five early. His coach tells us how he liked USC and what's next for the 6-foot-1, 188-pound star.

"He loved it, he had a very good time and was very impressed," said Landstown head coach Chris Beatty. "He really liked the coaching staff and the players, he felt like they would be a good fit with him. He thought the offense was incredible, to put up 700+ yards is unbelievable and to do it against a good Pac-10 team."
Harvin, who had already been on an official visit to Florida, did not compare the two.
"I know he really liked both, but he was smiling a lot when he came back from USC," said Beatty. "I think it might take a lot for someone to beat them but I don't want to speak for Percy. He said it was a long trip but well worth it."
Harvin was hosted by both Reggie Bush and Lendale White and was impressed with the campus as well.
"He thought the campus was great, he didnt realize they were a private school," Beatty said. "He thought it was an excellent visit overall. The only drawback would be distance so we'll see how that factors in."
Next up for Harvin is a trip to Michigan on Nov. 18 for their home game against Ohio State. After that he's talked about taking two more.
"He's tired of all the calls and text messages and such," Beatty explained. "It's not his thing, but I know he's going to get to Miami for an official visit and I'm pretty sure he'll get to Florida State as well. We talked about the Thanksgiving weekend at Miami (Nov. 26) but it might have to be after that because we hope to be still playing."
Harvin wants to make his decision before Christmas and will do so on ESPNews. An exact date hasn't been set.
