USC offers 2021 linebacker whose brother is committed

Ma’a Gaoteote is a 2021 linebacker who has offered by USC on Tuesday night. That is noteworthy enough.

But it’s extra special for the Las Vegas (Nev.) Faith Lutheran standout since his brother, Palaie, is already committed to the Trojans. The five-star is the top-rated linebacker in the 2018 class and is locked in with USC.

“I was offered by coach Clay Helton and coach Johnny Nansen,” Gaoteote said.

“I’m very humbled by the offer and super pumped at the same time. I’m really thankful for coaches Helton and Nansen for believing in me and offering me this great opportunity.”

Ole Miss was the first school to offer the 2021 standout months ago and now USC has come through with the second offer.

For Gaoteote, USC is definitely a top-notch school but he’s only finishing up his freshman year in high school and is not prepared to name the Trojans or any other team as the frontrunner this early in his recruitment.

That’s not a knock on USC or any other team. It’s just way too soon.

“I wouldn’t say that just yet,” Gaoteote said. “I’m only in my first year of high school and I don’t want to get ahead of myself. I’m not ready to start looking too seriously at colleges yet. I’m still trying to get through my freshman year.”

Other interest is coming in from Oregon, UCLA and Washington for Gaoteote, who has 49 tackles in nine games this season.
