USC offer could be big for Hawkins

Jaylinn Hawkins said he had a great weekend trip to USC and if the Trojans offer he would consider making an early commitment.
Of course, USC would have to offer first but Hawkins said he thinks one could be close since he was one of a select few recruits to be invited to campus.

"I don't know about an offer but personally I hope they offer," Hawkins said.
"It could be soon because the way they had it set up it was basically the top 20 prospects they're looking at right now. They were saying they want us to come there and the coaches were showing me a lot of love. They were talking about offers so hopefully it will come soon.
"It would mean a lot. USC is USC. It would be a solid, nice offer and a school I'd look into more. I would think about committing. It's nice. It's like home."
So far, the 2015 four-star wide receiver from Buena Park, Calif., has offers from Cal, Northwestern, Oregon State, San Diego State, San Jose State, Utah and Washington State.
Hawkins, rated as the No. 31 receiver in the 2015 class by Rivals.com, said he knows the USC coaches well since Steve Sarkisian and others recruited him while they were at Washington.
"It was fun," Hawkins said. "I had a really good day. There were a couple friends that were down there with me. It was cool. We toured the campus, looked at the Coliseum and we basically took a tour around the whole school and the football facilities.
"I learned some good facts, too, some football facts and some things about the education so it was a good day down there.
"I like the new coaching staff. I've been talking to them for a cool minute ever since last year I've been in contact with Sark. Last year at Washington he was recruiting me so now that he's at SC they're still recruiting me. Coach Tee Martin is the same as last year. I have good communication with these coaches and I know them well."
