USC no go for Cushing

Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic linebacker Brian Cushing wanted to make his first official visit this weekend and check out Southern Cal as they hosted Notre Dame. However, he wasn't able to make the trip.
"I wanted to go but my coach wouldn't let me," said Cushing, a 6-foot-4, 225-pounder with more than 50 offers. "Coach Stengel said I couldn't go because of our game next weekend against Bosco for the title. I wanted to make the trip though."

Cushing, who has led his team to the state title championship game again this year, will take his official visit to Southern Cal in December or January.
"Right now the only one I have set up is Louisville for Dec. 17," said Cushing. "I will visit Miami, Virginia and USC for sure as well. My last official will be either to Notre Dame or Boston College. If I go to ND on an official, I'll take an unofficial to BC."
Cushing will be hosting a couple of coaches this week.
"Coach McGovern from BC comes in on Wednesday and coach Paterno could be here as well," he said. "I'll schedule other in-home visits soon as well."
The standout linebacker watched three of his favorites lose big games on Saturday.
"BC lost a bad one, Virginia I wonder if they can win a big game and Notre Dame got beaten pretty good as I guess everyone expected," he said. "It was good to see Louisville win big though and Southern Cal looked awesome."
