USC, ND lead for Tennessee RB

Three-star Cleveland (Tenn.) running back Levonte Barber has identified a pair of favorites and recently visited a practice for another school which may have a say in his final destination.
“I just came back from a UT (Tennessee) scrimmage the other day,” he said. “I got to talk to coach Fulmer and some of the other coaches. It was nice. They told me I was on their list, that they were going to be coming down to see me play, and wished me luck in my season.”

Barber (6-0, 195, 4.45) has yet to receive an official scholarship offer from the Volunteers, but he has drawn three thus far – South Carolina, North Carolina and Wake Forest. Also showing interest are Notre Dame, Georgia, Auburn and Louisville.
“South Carolina and Notre Dame are my top two at this point,” he said. “South Carolina because coach Holtz is just great, and my whole family lives down there about 30 minutes from campus. Notre Dame because of their tradition, the atmosphere and education. They really take care of their players after they graduate.”
Barber says he’ll visit Notre Dame and “maybe North Carolina” this fall before making a decision.
As a junior, he rushed for 1,115 yards and 13 touchdowns despite missing three games due to an injury. He’s also a solid student, sporting a 3.1 GPA and a 17 on the ACT.
