There was some talk early in his recruitment that Jacob Daniel was not very interested in USC.
He had been committed to Washington and he grew up in Carson, Calif., but the Trojans never intrigued him much and it looked like they wouldn't play a major factor for him.
That has changed dramatically - if it was ever true at all.
The 2015 four-star defensive tackle from Fresno (Calif.) Clovis North has reopened his recruitment and in recent weeks he was one of a few select juniors to visit USC and meet with the new coaching staff.
Since Daniel was committed to Washington, the four-star was very familiar with the new USC coaching staff and he said his day on campus especially stood out to him.
"It was better than expected," Daniel said. "I loved it over there. It was just the environment and the campus. They seemed so welcoming to me."
USC has made up major ground in the recruitment of Daniel, rated as the ninth-best defensive tackle and the No. 83 prospect in the 2015 class by Rivals.com.
But the four-star is definitely not ready to narrow down his list or name USC one of his favorites.
"It's too early right now," Daniel said. "I'm taking it day by day and I'm not really picking anybody out just yet."
Notre Dame just offered and Daniel said he'll definitely consider the Irish. Arizona, Arizona State, California, Colorado, Fresno State, Hawaii, Houston, Iowa, Louisville, Miami, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Oregon State, San Diego State, Stanford, Tennessee, UCLA, Utah, Washington, Washington State and Wisconsin have also offered.
