USC lands another from Westlake

Westlake, Calif., senior defensive end/wide receiver Michael Stuart (6-4, 220, 4.6) will be joining his high school teammate defensive end/tight end Jimmy Miller (6-5, 240, 4.6) with the USC Trojans. USC head coach Pete Carroll was in attendance last Friday evening watching Westlake play against Sherman Oaks (Calif.) Notre Dame.
Obviously Carroll liked what he saw because over the weekend USC tendered an offer to Stuart and according to our sources, Stuart has accepted.

The Trojans land a player who was selected Maramonte League Player of the Year as a junior. He was also selected first-team all-state underclassman, first-team all-county, and first-team all-league as a junior.
Stuart had a stellar junior season on both sides of the ball from his defensive end and wide receiver spot. On defense, Stuart accounted for 68 tackles, 16 ½ sacks, 16 pass breakups, seven tackles for loss, three caused fumbles and two forced fumbles.
Stuart brings a lot of athletic ability and quickness to the table. He could play on either side of the ball on the D-I level.
In an earlier interview with Rivals.com, Westlake head coach Jim Benkert said, “Michael is very athletic for a big guy and he has extremely gifted hands. He has the talent to play defensive line, slot-back or tight end on the collegiate level.”
In article in the Los Angeles Daily News Scott Wolf quotes Stuart saying that USC would want him to play outside backer or strong safety.
The Trojans get an outstanding player who gets brings a lot to the table. The Trojans win the services of Stuart over offers from ASU, Washington, Oregon, Cal and Fresno State.
