USC holds firm lead for Florida LB

One of the nation’s top-rated linebackers says USC is making it tough for the other schools on his list to keep pace.
“USC is definitely my top school right now,” said Orlando (Fla.) Evans star Brandon Siler. “They’ve been showing far and away more interest than anyone else. I like their coaches and the tradition there. I like everything about them. Most of all, I feel like I’m really wanted there. Their coaches have gone all out for me.”

Siler (6-3, 220, 4.52) is ranked the No. 15 outside linebacker in the nation by Rivals.com. He also has scholarship offers from Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Georgia Tech and Pittsburgh, among others. In the last month he’s received calls from USC, Ohio State, Florida State, Florida, Ole Miss and Pittsburgh as well as personal visits from LSU and Miami.
“LSU came by the school today,” he said. “They’re picking up a lot of interest latlely. Miami seems to be more interested, too. I like both of those schools.”
Auburn had been in the mix this spring and summer, but have fallen off the pace. “I haven’t heard too much from them of late,” he said.
Siler says he doesn’t rank the other schools in any particular order behind USC.
“They’re all about the same after them,” he said. “I’m not sure who else I’ll visit, but USC will definitely be one.”
He also hopes to make an unofficial visit to the Florida State-Miami game on Oct. 11.
Through four games this season, Evans has posted a 2-2 record. Siler said he’s coming off his best game of the season having recorded 15 tackles, one interception, one fumble recovery and a rushing touchdown against Boone.
As a junior, he tallied 160 tackles, seven sacks and three forced fumbles.
Equally impressive on and off the field, Siler maintains a 4.2 GPA and has scored a 1000 on the SAT.
