USC enters mix for Magnolia WR

A new school has entered the picture for Starkville (Miss.) wide receiver Antonio McCoy.
“South Carolina just got involved,” he said. “Coach Cooper called me tonight. He said he remembered me from when he was down here, and that he liked me at the camps. He wanted to know if I was still looking for a school, and if I’d be interested in South Carolina now. I told him I was, so we set up an official visit for the 23rd.”

McCoy (6-1, 170, 4.5) will also visit Mississippi State on the 9th and Memphis on the 16th. He has an official offer from the Bulldogs, but says both the Tigers and Gamecocks are indicating he’ll have one from them if he visits.
He said he likes South Carolina’s tradition and “their great head coach, Lou Holtz.”
Regarding MSU, he said they hold a slight advantage in the fact that the Bulldogs were the first to offer and have recruited him the longest.
“I like their offense they’re running now, and I’ve heard good things about the new coach,” he added.
Memphis has “good coaches, especially the wide receiver coach,” McCoy said. “I like how they play, too. They’ve got a wide-open, high-scoring offense. They had a real good season.”
As a senior, McCoy had approximately 40 catches for 700 yards and six touchdowns.
