USC commit to visit Oklahoma

During an unofficial visit to USC this summer, Desean Holmes decided to make his commitment.
He loved the new up-tempo offense. He enjoyed being around the new coaches. Former Mission Hills (Calif.) Alemany teammate Steven Mitchell plays for the Trojans and that had a role in Holmes' decision.

The four-star receiver remains firmly committed to the Trojans but some eyebrows were raised this past week when Holmes said he plans to take only one other official visit this fall - and that's to Oklahoma, his other favorite school, when it hosts Baylor in early November.
"I just want to make sure I made the right decision pretty much," Holmes said. "They use small receivers and throw the ball a lot. I really liked them a lot."
The 5-foot-9, 170-pound four-star prospect who's rated as the No. 21 receiver in the 2015 class by Rivals.com said since his commitment the Sooners have not backed away one bit.
Oklahoma continues to pursue the USC commit and Holmes said he wants to take a trip to Norman just to check things out and see what the Sooners really do have to offer. And he wants to see the offense in action.
"They're still coming pretty hard after me," Holmes said.
No other official visits are expected for Holmes, who finished with 62 receptions for 1,219 yards and seven touchdowns in his junior season.
That is good news for USC fans and Holmes wants to reassure everybody that his commitment remains strong. He's just intrigued by Oklahoma and wants to take a look before closing everything down.
"I'm still pretty strong with my commitment," Holmes said of USC. "I really like what the new coaches are doing with the program. They're supposed to go spread this year so that's really good. I really liked that especially with the way I play."
